A Word Of Caution This Christmas

Part of the holiday season is the tradition of sending out Christmas greetings to family, relatives, friends and maybe even acquaintances. That's usually a long list. Thankfully, most cellphones are capable of sending text messages en masse. It might be a little too late to warn you now, but try to be careful when you do that because it can lead to a sore thumb. Think I'm kidding? It's serious enough to have a medical name of its own.

A New Zealand student, Fleur de Vere Beavis has become the first person in the country to be diagnosed with Texting Tenosynovitis - more commonly known as text-messager's thumb. Her habit of sending up to 100 SMSs per day has inflamed the tendons along the thumb and side of the wrist and filled the surrounding tissue with fluid, the IOL reported, quoting a report in the New Zealand Medical Journal.

With that, happy holidays to everyone! I hope you have a blessed Christmas if you celebrate it. If you don't, then I still hope you have a festive time this season.
