Adobe Pushing Flash For Mobiles

flashplayer_100x100.jpg

Prepare for a dazzling mobile web experience. Adobe announced that it will make Flash, the software that makes those jazzy animations you see on the Internet, available to mobile content developers for free. It seeks to make cellphone web browsing resemble its PC equivalent.

The world's fifth-largest software maker is launching what it calls the Open Screen Project with support from phone makers Motorola Inc., Nokia Corp., Samsung Electronics, Sony Ericsson and Toshiba Corp., from chip makers Intel and Qualcomm, and from content providers including NBC Universal, MTV Networks and the BBC, among other companies.

The Open Screen Project aims to improve Internet experiences on all electronic devices, with a special focus on cellphones. It wants to address the disappointing reaction from consumers regarding mobile applications.
