Adobe To Work On Flash For The iPhone

adobe.jpg

It didn't have to take a weekend, folks. After recent news that Apple and Adobe weren't rushing to bring Flash to the iPhone, the latter is showing the former some love by announcing that it intends to bring its software to the popular mobile. Here's the scoop:

During a conference call today, Chief Executive Shantanu Narayen said, "We believe Flash is synonymous with the Internet experience, and we are committed to bringing Flash to the iPhone," adding, "We have evaluated (the software developer tools) and we think we can develop an iPhone Flash player ourselves."

It should be noted that while YouTube is the most popular video sharing website on the Internet, it isn't the only one out there. And while iPhone users have enjoyed YouTube access since it was released, Flash support has otherwise been limited. This move will finally open the doors to other websites, giving webmasters, publishers and users opportunities to maximize web content on the iPhone. How will Apple react to the news? We'll keep you posted.
