Android App Deleting Data For G1 Users?

memoryupo-330x440.jpg

When it comes to tweaking computers for performance, I've always adopted a cautious approach. There's too many of them out there, to tell you the truth, especially if you're using Windows. They promise to optimize performance, so it's appealing regardless of how old or new a system is. The same is true for Android apparently, because a couple of people signed up for the MemoryUp Personal app. Some of them were in for an unpleasant surprise though.

One particular incident comes from user “Mark” who wrote (in all caps,) “Do not download. Destroyed my memory card/system delete. Then my email was spammed. TMobile can’t stop you from downloading this! So don’t!”

The damage varies. Some found SD cards wiped clean while others reported that contact lists sporadically appeared and disappeared. This kind of thing calls for some serious quality assurance on Google's part. How did this app slip through the cracks? There's also the frightening follow-up question: what else is out there?
