Apple Gets Sued Over The iPhone Browser

128px-Apple-logo.png

Apple has been sued over the iPhone browser. The damages? Unspecified. The reason? Believe it or not, that's even vaguer. The iPhone allegedly infringes on patent 7, 441, 196, which is for the following:

an invention that displays "on-line content reformatted from a webpage in a hypertext markup language (HTML) format into an extensible markup language (XML) format to generate a sister site." This sister site is a simplified version of the original site that is then displayed on any number of devices--including cell phones.

What's interesting here is that the iPhone is supposed to be displaying full web pages and not simplified versions. Other mobile browsers do that, making them more viable candidates for the lawsuit. Will other mobile companies get sued as well?

As always, we'll keep you updated on how this one will turn out. To be honest, it just sounds like someone wants a piece of the action.
