ASUS To Make Android Mobiles

asuslogo.jpg

Speaking of companies collaborating, we saw news of two others who have the same idea. ASUS is joining the list of Android supporters and is planning to release a handset running Google's operating system around next year.

Looks like Asus is hopping aboard the Android train with a handset planned for the first half of 2009 in Taiwan. No word yet on if they'll be offering two dozen different models, but expectations are that they'll be building and offering Android phones for overseas clients.

It doesn't look like we'll see any action on our side of the Pacific, but who knows? Maybe lightning will strike twice and ASUS will score another hit like it did with the EEE. Keep your eyes open for the new handsets. Likewise, we'll keep a close eye on what other brands will come up with their own Android-powered units from here on.
