Bell & Telus To Charge For Incoming Text Messages

42-19728160.jpg

By now, you've probably got a good idea of how your cellphone bill works. You get charged for outbound calls and text messages, you have to pay for your mobile Internet use, etc. You know the per-minute rates and you've got a good idea when you've exceeded the free limits. In fact, you probably have it memorized so well you know when you've been overcharged.

Well, guess what? Bell and Telus are going to throw a monkey wrench into those fine-tuned habits and is going to start charging for incoming text messages.

Two of Canada's phone operators, Bell Mobility and Telus Mobility have announced that they will start charging some of its subscribers to receive text messages. The changes, to come into effect from next month only affect Prepay subscribers and both operators have set the same C$0.15 per message received.

There are a few options available for those who don't want to be charged, so make sure you browse the source link for more details. Considering the price plans for the iPhone plus this, I'm pretty sure that some of you can't wait until more carriers come in and offer some competition.
