Castlevania Is Going Wireless

castlevania-wall.jpg

Castlevania is heading to mobiles. According to IGN, the game is entitled Castlevania: Order of Shadows and features, among other things, a new storyline and an original soundtrack.

As a new chapter in the Castlevania mythos, Order of Shadows was developed in cooperation with Koji Igarashi, the current head of the famed series. The game is set to bring the Belmonts back to the forefront as they hunt creatures armed with upgraded abilities and spells, ready to take the fight straight to Dracula's doorsteps. Complete with new music and full screen particle effects, this new addition to the series is set to sate Castlevania fans around the country.

The return of the Belmonts as the protagonists indicates a change in the Castlevania universe. As the article implies, the Belmonts were the original heroes of the series, revealed in later titles as the destined (or cursed) bloodline whose members have to rid the world of Dracula whenever he resurrected. However, some of the Castlevania titles have taken the spotlight away from the Belmonts and put them on others, such as Dracula's son Alucard and Soma Cruz. Although they're usually available as unlockable characters, it still doesn't remove the fact that they're acting supporting roles. It will be interesting to see how things turn out when the Belmonts return to the forefront.
