Dell Still Wants To Make A Smartphone

dell.gif

We recently reported that Dell's smartphone entry ran into a setback and had to go back to the drawing board. CEO Michael Dell reacted to that by suggesting that they're working on "either a smartphone or a mobile Internet device".

"We already have agreements with many mobile carriers around netbook devices, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect that we would have smaller mobile Internet devices or smartphones in the future."

Dell is also said to have placed an order with a Taiwanese electronics contract manufacturer to make smartphones. Although the real status of Dell's smartphone is confusing at this point, what's certainly clear is that the intent to get into the mobile arena is still there. However, it looks like that it needs something truly remarkable to make itself stand out.
