Developers React To The Android

Just a few days after the release of the Android SDK, developers have given their comments on the new platform. So what's the word?

"What you see with platforms like Windows Mobile is that there's more of a concentration on bringing Windows applications to mobile platforms," said Evan Prodromou, a writer and programmer who lives in Montreal. "But it seems that what we're seeing with Android is a ground-up approach to application development. ... It's a pretty decent first effort. I'm going to guess that we'll see a lot more refinement, but it's a good start."

It looks like the Android will be the mobile equivalent of an open source platform. Google is heavily pushing developers into creating applications for it, offering up to $10 million in prizes for the best programs.

You can read the source article for the details. Page 2 mentions the issues and concerns about the Android, which includes security, among other things.
