European Buses To Gain Extra Senses

42-19216662.jpg

Researchers in Europe are looking into the possibility of turning buses into mobile-sensing platforms. Yes, we're talking about ordinary city buses here, so it's mixing the old with the new. The technology will allow the buses to relay information such as traffic and road hazards. This will then improve safety and provide a better commute for everyone.

In a test, the researchers equipped city buses with environmental sensors and cameras, allowing the vehicles to become transmitters of measurements, warnings and live or recorded videos to anyone allowed to access the data.

The project is already underway. More information is available via the source link.
