First Encounters Of The Luxurious Kind

Not to be outdone by million-dollar laptops and possibly other tech-related luxury items, cellphone giant Nokia flexed their vanity muscles through their ritzy brand Vertu.

Nokia's luxury brand, Vertu has shown off a new handset which is plans to retail for an eye watering US$310,000. The "Cobra" handset was shown off at the Baselworld Watch and Jewellery Show which is being held in Switzerland this week.

Vertu President Alberto Torres told Reuters that many of the company's younger customers were more interested in their mobile phones than their watches, unlike older clientele who show deep loyalty to luxury watchmakers such as Patek Philippe, Rolex or Cartier.

So get this straight, people: there are cellphones for normal people, smartphones for smart people, fashion phones for the fashionistas and luxury phones for people with astronomical sums of money.
