Going Mobile With Remote Administration

Just software today, folks. After a week of posting about nothing but the iPhone, I'm pretty sick of hearing and reading about it. Of course, it would be a heck of a lot different if I actually had a unit of my own to play with, but I don't, so let's move on.

If you're an IT administrator or you're the type who just can't get away from his computer for very long, then here's a solution for you.

LogMeIn, Inc. has announced a new software that enables customer care representatives at wireless carriers, IT support organizations and corporate IT departments to quickly and securely access and remote control smartphones to diagnose and fix problems – or even train end users. LogMeIn Rescue Mobile, the newest software-as-a-service (SaaS) in LogMeIn's growing family of IT support services, is the first web-based service that enables technicians to remotely access and take control of a smartphone – and optionally the connected PC - simultaneously. Technicians have a replica of the smartphone on their computer screen and can push buttons, manipulate the screen and control the device as if it were in their own hands.

Pretty neat idea. At least you won't have to bother with traveling from one place to another to gain control of a computer.
