Google Announces Latitude Apps

Google announced a new feature that will be useful for friends and foes alike. No, I'm not kidding. The new Google Latitude is going to allow tracking similar to what you saw with My Location, with other people getting involved this time around.

Latitude is a new feature of Google Maps for mobile, as well as an iGoogle gadget, that allows you to share your location with your friends and to see their approximate locations, if they choose to share them with you. You can use your Google account to sign in and easily invite friends to Latitude from your existing list of contacts or by entering their email addresses.

So that bit about friends and foes is possible, but only if you do it by choice. Latitude is integrated with Google Talk, so you can update status messages and photos whenever you want to. Your friends will be able to see the changes you make. The new app can be used for calls, text, IM and email. Hit the source for the details on how to use this on your mobile.
