Google Gets More Hits From iPhones

Web browsing is a common feature in cellphones these days, but how many of us actually use it? I certainly don't. While the cost the is a concern, it's really the "getting there" that turns me away. Opening the browser is often too slow, the connection isn't good enough and the actual browsing is a chore. iPhone users are apparently not running into that problem, making Google very pleased. How? Because hits from iPhones surpassed traffic from other mobile devices. What makes the data significant is that the iPhone makes up only a small percent of the market.

The data is striking because the iPhone, an Apple product, accounts for just 2 percent of smartphones worldwide, according to IDC, a market research firm. Phones powered by Symbian make up 63 percent of the worldwide smartphone market, while those powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile have 11 percent and those running the BlackBerry system have 10 percent.

The data indicates that web browsing using the iPhone is a convenient experience.
