Google Reveals Ad Test For YouTube Mobile

Google's cellphone wing is running a test on YouTube mobile. You can probably guess that it's about advertising since it's the search giant's major source of revenue. The test is ongoing in the U.S. and Japan, so if you're outside of those areas, you can stop wondering why you're not seeing it.

You may have noticed that we started running a test of display ads on select pages of the YouTube mobile site in the U.S. and Japan. This is our first step in testing mobile advertising for YouTube -- it will give you a new way to interact with content on the go, while allowing us to learn how video viewers engage with mobile advertising.

Advertisers are running through the motions of the test now. What's interesting here is how long it will take. Assuming that it's in beta, one has to wonder whether it will take as long as Gmail. Considering that it's a possible revenue source, I doubt that it will take as much time.
