Google Turns GrandCentral Into Google Voice

When Google acquired GrandCentral a couple of months ago, it seemed like it ended things there. There was no word on what the search engine giant planned to do with the service and initial interest in the buyout died down. Now, Google has announced that it has re-launched GrandCentral as Google Voice, a new application for your voicemail. Here's a demo:

As you can see, it transcribes messages to text format, among other things. Google is retaining GrandCentral's services and adding its own innovations, starting with transcription. All this is only available to users of GrandCentral for now. When is Google expanding it? Your guess is as good as mine, although I hope it doesn't take another year or two.
