Hands On The Samsung A706

Remember that Rogers Wireless and William Shatner story we ran a few weeks ago? This is it, the actual unit that you can use to do all that fancy video calling. Engadget managed to get their hands on the Samsung A706, the first cellphone in North America capable of video calling. It features "quad-band GSM / GPRS / EDGE support, dual-band 850 / 1900 HSDPA connectivity, typical lush Samsung screen at 320 x 240 pixels, and a 2 megapixel cam."

If you're going to rush out to get one, take a friend with you. After all, there's no sense in having an A706 if you can't find someone with a video-calling-capable phone. If you find yourself by your lonesome, you can always stick to streaming TV.
