iPhone Developers Prohibited From Jailbreaking

128px-Apple-logo.png

The latest revision of the license agreement governing development for the iPhone now contains sections that prohibit the act of jailbreaking or assisting to do so. Creating and distributing jailbreaking apps are also not allowed.

Of course, Apple forbids the creation of apps that violate privacy, facilitate crimes, or violate intellectual property laws. But registered developers can no longer jailbreak their own phones or assist others in jailbreaking their phones, including (but not limited to) working on projects such as QuickPwn or PwnageTool.

Now, you might be thinking that this is something that Apple should've done a long time ago, but note that we're not talking about the end user's license agreement here. Developers have reasons why they may want to jailbreak an iPhone. For example, making apps is easier if one understands the backbone of the system it's supposed to run on. Jailbreaking grants access to that.
