Is Fido Saying Goodbye To The iPhone 16gb?

fido-no-16gb-iphone.jpg

It looks like one Canadian carrier is going to say goodbye to the iPhone 3G---well, at least to one version of it. The source says that Fido is not going to replenish its stock of the 16gb version of the Apple mobile once the current supply depletes. The 8gb model will continue to be available, but questions remain as to why the larger capacity version is going out. Here are the theories:

...one, since Fido's been rebranded as Rogers' value brand, it makes more sense for the high-end iPhone to live on Rogers alone; two, there's one (or more) new devices on the way in the next few months. For the world's sake, we hope the latter theory figures prominently in the equation.

So if you're looking to get the 16gb version from Fido, grab it while you can. You'll only have Rogers as the only option when supply runs out. Of course, you can always grab the 8gb one. Storage shouldn't be too much of a problem, right? Ha! That's a lie I've told myself more than once.
