Katamari For The iPhone

Katamari Damacy is a game that's about as simple as simple can get. All you have to do is to push a ball and get things to stick to it. As more things get stuck, the ball grows larger, enabling you to roll onto larger things and get them glued to your ball. Your goal is to meet the maximum size required to get to the next level. Easy enough, right? The fun thing about it is that everything is fair game. And I mean everything. If it's on the current level, then you can roll it into your ball.

You start off with bugs, candy, gum, toothpicks, erasers, breath mints, matches and other small things. When it's big enough, your ball can roll notebooks, pens, lamps, brooms, bottles, cats, dogs, phones and other medium-sized objects. Given the right size, you'll eventually move up to cars, trains, small planes, cows, cattle and people. Yes, even people can get stuck to your ball. The game is fun, hilarious and simple, making it accessible to anyone regardless of gaming experience and preference.

That is, it's fun till it got to the iPhone. Controls involve tilting the device to the direction where you want the ball to roll, but they're not implemented well. If you can't roll the ball correctly in a game like Katamari, then you're totally screwed. If that wasn't enough, framerate issues also ruin the gameplay. Too bad. Apparently not all platforms are created equal, so even a game like Katamari Damacy can be spoiled by bad development.
