Maps & Android

Google isn't above giving itself a pat on the back, as shown by the hands-on user experience posted at the source. The article talks about using Google Maps on Android, noting how easy and wonderful it is. Considering that Maps and Android are handled by different teams and how development for the latter opens plenty of possibilities, it's easy to see why the integration is exciting.

Perhaps best of all is that most of the resources, flexibility, and functionality in Google Maps are available to any application written for Android. Cab4me and Locale are both Android Developer Challenge winners that used the Android platform to build compelling applications with maps and location at their core. Any developer can use Android's MapView and location APIs to build location-aware mobile applications like these.

If you're an Android user, make sure to stay tuned at the source. The blog seems to be running a series of Android-themed posts lately, so it's going to be pretty interesting to see what they'll write about next.
