Metal Gear Solid Touch: A Simple MGS

mgst_logo.gif

We recently reported that Metal Gear Solid is coming to the iPhone. If you're a gamer like me, one of the questions that you probably thought of was how the controls would work. Well, IGN has the details on that, so let's see how stealth will be implemented for Apple's mobile, if it will be in the first place.

As revealed early today, you slide your finger on the screen to move Snake's view around. You then tap to make Snake fire. Zooming in and out make use of pinch gestures, where you place two fingers on the screen and slide them together or apart.

Series creator Hideo Kojima said that MGS Touch will be a "Simple MGS", using the phrase to explain that the game is literally a simplified version of Metal Gear. How simple? They decided to turn it into a shooter instead of a stealth-based action title. The logic behind that is that the portability is supposed to be a benefit, so implementing stealth gameplay will make it inconvenient to play in certain places, such as a train or highly-populated commercial areas. Aside from the iPhone, the game will be available for the iPod Touch.
