MobileMe Launched Prematurely

You know you're looking at an embarrassment when even the head honcho calls it one. While Steve Jobs stops short of saying that, he came pretty close. In an internal email, Jobs said that MobileMe was "not up to Apple's standards", among other things.

"It was a mistake to launch MobileMe at the same time as iPhone 3G, iPhone 2.0 software and the App Store," Jobs said in the message, Ars Technica reported. "We all had more than enough to do, and MobileMe could have been delayed without consequence."

Reactions are mixed. Personally, I don't think someone like Steve Jobs would be silly enough to think that his internal email wouldn't eventually leak out, but admitting a mistake still requires a lot of guts. Hopefully it will get better from this point. I don't know how Apple is going to renew the trust of their clients with MobileMe, especially after some of them lost their email, but we'll keep you posted.
