Motorola i9 Nearing Release?

i9.jpg

Pictures of the Motorola i9 are spreading across the Internet, indicating that it's near release. What's notable about it is that it will support the iDEN network, which Wikipedia defines as "a mobile telecommunications technology, developed by Motorola, which provides its users the benefits of a trunked radio and a cellular telephone. iDEN places more users in a given spectral space, compared to analog cellular and two-way radio systems, by using speech compression and time division multiple access (TDMA)."

The phone features a 3.1 megapixel camera and integrated GPS. You'll notice that multimedia keys are immediately available while the unit is closed, giving you access to music and other files without having to open the clamshell. Since iDEN is only available in the U.S., don't expect to see the i9 in your local distributor. No word on pricing yet, but expect it to fall within the mid-range category.
