New Hub To Provide Cross-Messaging Capabilities

In the world of mobile networks, it's easy enough to call and chat anywhere. Sending an instant or text message to anyone is also a very simple task. What's not so straightforward is going between formats. What if you want to send an IM to someone via text? Even if you're able to do it, it's still going to require a little mobile magic. Syniverse is hoping to bridge that gap:

Syniverse Technologies and Colibria have announced a messaging hub solution which will deliver seamless interworking between operators for IM, SMS, MMS and presence applications. Syniverse is a provider of technology and business solutions and Colibria is a provider of instant messaging and presence solutions.

Details such as release dates and compatible platforms are currently unavailable. The source doesn't even mention a name for the messaging hub yet, so while its existence is definitely good news, it sounds like things are still in the early stages.
