Nokia N97 To Use The Same Processor?

Nokia_logo2.jpg

The highly-anticipated N97 is hitting a bit of a snag. It is rumored to be running the ARM11 processor, the same one that's on the N95. Simply put, this means that it's going to be slower. The real downer is that it has the potential to be faster if it uses a better chip.

...the new Nokia N97 uses the same Texas Instruments ARM11 processor, with a higher clock speed, as the N95, rather than the newer TI OMAP 3 chip. If true, this will come as a disappointment for anyone hoping the new flagship smartphone would take advantage of the OMAP 3’s super-frugal architecture and speedier ARM Cortex core.

The ARM3 processor is supposed to run at a faster clock speed on the N97 compared to the N95, so it's still going to be pretty fast. Still, the question remains as to why the unit doesn't come with a better chip in the first place. After all, this is supposed to be the flagship phone for Nokia. Shouldn't it come out with all cylinders firing?
