Nokia Takes On Apple With The 5800 Xpress Music

Nokia_5800_230.jpg

It took a while, but Nokia is finally taking the iPhone head-on by releasing its own touchscreen phone. Why did it take so long? Your guess is as good as mine, but never mind that. The 5800 Xpress Music has arrived! So, can we expect great things from it?

Nokia has clearly taken a cue from Apple Inc. in its design of the 5800 Xpress Music, formerly known as Tube. The device, due for release by year's end, looks similar to Apple's iPhone, which has a single panel of smooth glass on the front.

A big advantage that the 5800 has over the iPhone is that it supports Flash. Users will be able to view multimedia-rich websites with ease. It's running Symbian's Series 60, which is kind of a downside for me because I'm not impressed with it, but hey, maybe you like it so that should be a bonus, right?

The suggested retail price is $393, but don't expect that to be the final word yet. Head to the source for more information.
