Reviews: Windows Mobile 6.1

The recently-announced Windows Mobile 6.1 has started to make its presence felt in the mobile industry and both users and developers are already looking deeply into the new operating system. Here are the key points from a review:

PROS

* Very nice zooming enhancement to Internet Explorer
* "Sliding Panels" Home screen on Standard Edition
* Copy/Paste finally available on Standard Edition
* Threaded text messaging, finally!
* Instantly download the rest of messages in POP3/IMAP email accounts without doing a send/receive

CONS

* Internet Explorer's page rendering is still slow
* "Reply" button is still in the calendar
* Copy/Paste on Standard only works in certain programs
* Can't easily change text messaging back to original view
* New font in Standard edition can make some 3rd part programs unusable

There are actually more cons than pros, but you can check the source link for that. Like previous versions, Windows Mobile 6.1 comes in Standard and Professional editions. The reviewer notes that the former is a major overhaul from the 6.0 release, so if you've been struggling with that, you might have something to look forward to with this upgrade.
