Rumors: The iPhone Activation Process For Canada

The way I see it, there are three hurdles that you have to overcome in order to get the iPhone. First, you have to get over the contract. It will really involve three years and, for now, there's nothing that you can do about it. Second, there's the price, which is sure to make a dent in your wallet no matter how you look at it. Finally, there's activation, which only becomes an obstacle once you get past the first two. It's ironic that the last hurdle happens to be the problem that unlocking solved in the first place.

Anyway, if you're wondering how activation will go, here's the scoop:

The supposed procedure that Rogers will be following for the launch of the 3G iPhone has been anonymously posted to an online discussion forum. Included is a link to what is said to be an advanced version of iTunes v7.6.3b4 that will allow the stores to “unbrick” the iPhones for in store activation.

You know the feeling that you get when you're all excited about something then reality sets in? I bet that's what at least 11,000 Canadians are feeling right now.
