Samsung To Come Up With Android Phones

samsunglogo.jpg

With only one handset out there---it's the T-Mobile G1 for those of you keeping score---Android has a lot of catching up to do if it wants to stay in the game. Samsung is going to help it move along with not one, but three phones powered by Google's mobile operating system.

Won-Pyo Hong, head of product strategy, said the firm would start selling more than three phones using Google's Android software by the end of the year and would "definitely" unveil a phone using LiMo's Linux software this year.

What isn't clear at the moment is who's going to get it first, the U.S. or Europe. Both regions should be able to get the units by the end of the year though. No design concepts are available yet, so how the phones will look like is anybody's guess at this point. We'll just have to watch and wait on this one. Hopefully, the units will be worth the suspense.
