Second Android Phone On The Way

kogan-agora.jpg

Now that the dust is settling for the T-Mobile G1, it's time for Android to move forward. As a mobile platform, the key to its success is adoption, so the more that you see it in cellphones, the better it is for the operating system. The next mobile to support Android is the Agora. If you've never heard of it, it's fine. You probably won't see it in real-life anyway. The reason for that is because it's going to be available down under.

Another Google Android-based 'GPhone' is on the way, but don't expect to hear nearly as much about this one as the T-Mobile G1. It's called the Agora, and it's made by an Australia-based company called Kogan, which you've probably never heard of.

As expected, it has the usual suspects from Google's roster: Search, Gmail, Calendar, Talk, Maps and YouTube. It supports audio and video, Bluetooth, instant messaging and has a capacity of 250MB. Nobody's expecting it to come our side of the border anytime soon, but it's still going to go down in history as the second Android-powered phone.
