Second Android Phone Put On Hold

kogan-agora.jpg

Last month we reported that a second Android phone was currently in development. It would've been more exciting if it was up for a release closer to home instead of faraway Australia but it was still newsworthy. If you were waiting for the inevitable reviews about the device, don't count the days. The said phone has been delayed indefinitely.

Kogan head honcho today has announced that the Android phone would be delayed “indefinitely”, a nice way to say canceled. He has cited the need “to ensure its compatibility with all future Android applications”. It sounds like a meeting late last year with Google must have shed light on shortcomings with the Agora as far as future versions of Android are concerned.

There's no word on what the real reason is behind the cancellation, but it's worth mentioning that Android was absent at the recently concluded CES. Is it related to the Agora's delay? Maybe, maybe not. Android has been quiet in the past few weeks so who knows what's going on. Right now, Google seems to be focused on restructuring and downsizing. We'll see what will happen in the coming weeks.
