"Smelly" App Makes A Killing At The App Store

42-19966998.jpg

We already know that the App Store can become a gold mine for developers should they come up with a killer app. I don't know whether to be surprised or ashamed, but for some reason an app that resembles farting has proven to be a hit among consumers. What kind of message is that going to send to future programmers?

...recently a fart application made nearly $10,000 in a single day.

Joel Comm, developer of iFart Mobile, published download statistics of his app, and this week it stood at No. 1 overall with over 13,000 downloads.

The application costs a dollar. Subtract Apple's cut and you've got $9,200 left for the developer. That's hardly pocket change for something so trivial. It's proof that no matter how technologically-advanced we've come, there's still room for tasteless humor. I don't know whether to laugh or to cry.
