Spell It Right Using Phatspell

paxton-20070611phatspellsp.jpg

I know a few people who can do the act of text messaging (AKA texting) like it was second nature. They can text using one hand (one thumb, to be precise). They can work around typing "moon", "noon" and all the other tricky same-key words. They can even use special characters without missing a beat. Unfortunately, they're also responsible for the death of a few letters, especially vowels. To get past the usual 160-character limit, SMS users cut back on the use of certain letters. Words like "back" became "bck", "thanks" became "tnx", and so on. It's generally acceptable to see them on cellphones, but when they cross over to forums and other websites, they're more than a little annoying.

If you want to kick the letter-removing habit, you can try Phatspell. "PhatSpell 1.0 for Windows Mobile based Smartphone allows users to check spelling in practically any application that permits text editing as SMS, Email, PhatNotes, and others. PhatSpell includes 13 dictionaries for 10 languages." Heck, you might even learn a thing or two about spelling.
