Unlocking iPhones To Become Tougher

The recently-announced 3G iPhone is going to make life harder for the unlockers out there. In the U.S., Apple and AT&T are going to require users to activate their units immediately after purchase. The old method did not force users to sign up immediately after buying an iPhone. That's going to change when the 3G version rolls out.

Apple is abandoning the unusual arrangement under which the iPhone was being sold. AT&T said buyers will have to activate service before leaving the store with an iPhone.

It's a good thing we'll be getting the 3G iPhone, so there's no need to resort to unlocking anymore.
