Unlocking The iPhone: Class Action Suit Joins The Fray

42-15358584.jpg

The latest entry in the battle between locking and unlocking the iPhone comes not from Apple or the iPhone Dev Team, but from a lawyer. The attorney thinks that the locking, and subsequent re-locking, is illegal.

The lawsuit claims that by locking the handset to the AT&T network - and reimposing the blocks on unlocked handsets with subsequent software changes - that the company is creating an illegal monopoly.

The affected parties are "seeking unspecified damages" and for Apple to honor the warranty on the iPhone. What's interesting here is that consumers are now joining the fray, so it's not just Apple versus the unlocking groups anymore. How will this end? Stay tuned.
